Welcome To The Lake Show
Free agency has officially gone nuclear in only a few days. We haven’t even hit Independence Day, but the craziness has hit a peak. If you follow the Anion Sports Twitter page, you should be up to date with all the madness. But the blog is something that I love to do and now that I’ve had the chance to breathe, I can update you all on my thoughts and opinions.
To keep you from being overwhelmed, I’ll stick to one player in particular that I was very pleased with his decision. LeBron James has made the move to head out to Los Angeles as a member of the Lakers. His move was announced via a press release on his agency’s Twitter page. Rather quiet compared to his last departure from Cleveland.
Now that it is official, let’s focus on what that means in the immediate future. The Lakers become a destination for free agents looking to join James in pursuit of a title. I think the Spurs lost a little more leverage in their dealings with the Purple & Gold unless the Clippers can somehow top a potential package.
If I was Rob Pelinka and Magic Johnson, I would not budge on a deal that is something along the lines of this: Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma and 2 first round picks. Deng may be included to help match salaries. But if the Spurs demand more, the Lakers should sit back and be patient. LeBron is the big fish that will act as bait for the other superstars.
Maintaining cap flexibility should be of the utmost importance and let the LeBron effect take over. One thing for certain, the Lake Show is back and Hollywood is officially rocking again.
