This One's for You, Cleveland (Day 10)
Welcome to Day 10 of the Anion Sports 25 Days of Christmas blog!
Today, I’m going to touch on an amazing experience I had yesterday. I was fortunate enough to go see LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers play Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers thanks to my buddy Daniel.
He scored some sweet seats at the Quicken Loans Arena (the Q for short). What made this trip special was that it was the first time I had been in the Q for a basketball game. Kanye was a blast to see though the last time I was there. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see our two favorite players play together as Derrick Rose was still recovering from his ankle injury. So, James and Rose (for everyone in our section behind row one) just took in the game from the seats.
Honestly, I was just excited to see greatness. LeBron, seemingly every night, puts on a show and climbs up some career accolade list. Even pregame, his introduction was something to behold. I haven’t seen anything like it since Derrick used to get intro’d at the United Center. Bron is Ohio’s native son and he gets treated as such.
The Cavs have been on a roll and LeBron has been his usual brand of excellent and this game was no different. The King managed to pull off a triple double with 30 points, 13 assists and 13 rebounds in a Cavs victory. I was also very impressed with the way the Sixers played. It was a treat getting to see Ben Simmons play live. Watching him on TV doesn’t do him enough justice. He really is that good and I can’t wait until he develops a jumper.
All in all, I was really pleased with the overall energy in the Q. One of the coolest things I saw was at the half, the local Jr. wheelchair basketball team played on the court.
Learning a little about the Cavs charitable efforts in my Sport PR class, I was able to see first hand how the organization goes about giving back to the community. The kids got to play in front of 20,000 fans cheering them on. It is a nice gesture from the team and something that I haven’t seen when I go to the Bulls games back home.
The Cavs game was a fun experience and I would not mind going back to see them again as long is Bron Bron is there. After all, he fits in with what goes on around here. He knows how to #BeGreat.
